Normally the term Spring Cleaning refers to cleaning through things around the house, or in my case computer. I have plenty of things to do and organize here in Athens, but the bulk of cleaning I need to do right now has to do with the 50,000+ photos tied to my name right now! It’s a little excessive…
So this afternoon in between interviewing, applying for internships and eating lunch, I have been going through some of my old photos. Here are some with stories tied to them.
This summer, I studied abroad in Paris, France. We went to the Opera House one rainy afternoon, and a couple of my friends and myself jumped the ropes and snuck up to the top floor to try and get into the booths. I loved these little peephole like windows.
In case anyone was every wondering, this is my favorite color combo of flowers ever. I received these from a boyfriend at the time (high school) and absolutely fawned over them, and I don’t really even like flowers or gifts of affection for that matter.
Here’s the Eiffel Tower, like it needs any explaining.
So I really enjoyed the Eiffel, but I was certainly not prepared for standing underneath it and the amazing iron work. Just beautiful, I can’t believe they wanted to tear it down!
While in Paris, a friend of mine suggested we visit the Mosque. I had never been inside of one before, so of course I went along with it. I was not prepared for this paradise-like sanctuary. The tile work and architecture was so beautiful, like a colorful oasis in a concrete desert.
While in Brussels, Belgium, I was recommended a waffle cafe on the Place Royale called Aromas I walked there one early Sunday morning and sat outside with my coffee and waffle with strawberries and watched the square wake up. Hands down, one of my favorite memories from Europe.
Technically, there is a lot wrong with this photo. However, this is my older brother wandering through a little tidal pool in Sanibel Island, Florida. He loves the beach and he loves the area and I thought this little moment of him poking around described him perfectly.
This is me, on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. I’ve never felt so many whispers from the ocean than in this place at the moment. It may have been freezing outside, it may have just stopped storming, but I was going to take my shoes off and play in the sand and in the water. It was almost like I was home again.

MEGHAN! my dads whole family is from Belgium, I’ve never been but I’d love to go and if I do, I want to eat what you were eating. Also every summer my family goes to Fort Myers Beach..which I’m guessing you know is right next to Sanibel..and I love going over to Sanibel to get shells.
we are probably soul mates.
You need to go to Belgium and NEED to live off of fries and waffles and chocolate and beer! I’ve been trying to find a recipe, anything close, to what we had while we were there, but no luck.
Sanibel is beautiful! I love that area! And yes, we are soulmates.
